John OVERTON 1838 - 1924

John Overton was the first son of Mary Turner and James Overton. He was born in 1838 in Kurrajong and died in Schofields in 1924. John married Jane Mitchell in 1859 in Richmond.

They had nine children.


1. Susannah 1857 - 1937. Married Daniel Alderton in 1880. They had thirteen children.

2. James 1859 - 1941. Married Elizabeth Merrick in 1887. They had eleven children.

3. Elizabeth 1862 - ?. Married Robert Lindores in 1882. They had eleven children.

4. Alice Jane 1865 - 1922. Married Joseph Hurst in 1884.

5. Sarah Ann 1867 - 1878.

6. William John 1870 - 1947. Married Ellen Griffiths in 1894. They had nine children.

7. Mary Ann 1873 - 1937. Married Henry E Mitchell in 1897. They had four children.

8. Clara 1877 - 1878.

9. John 1882 - ?. Married Mary Kilpac in Gosford in 1902.

James Silk 1864 to 1864

James Silk was the third child of Matilda Wilson and Thomas Silk. He was born in Richmond in 1864 and died there three weeks later.

William Henry SILK 1862 to ? married Elizabeth Ward

William Henry Silk was the first child of Matilda Wilson and Thomas Silk. He was born in Richmond in 1862 and died in ? He married Elizabeth Ward in 1897.

It is not known if he had any children.

Amelia Wilson 1882 to 1942 married Heny Packer

 Amelia Ann Christina (1882 - 1942) was the second daughter of John Wilson and Margaret Hawkins. She was born in Kurrajong in 1882 and died there in 1942. She was known locally as Sis Packer. Amelia married Henry Packer at Kurrajong in 1901. Henry died in 1939. You can read a newspaper obituary about him here. You can also see Henry's funeral notice in this article. Amelia and Henry are buried at St Matthews Windsor. 

Amelia and Henry had 12 children.

6. Harold Sidney (1910 - 1965) married Myrtle Jeffery. No children
7. Muriel Lillian (1913 - 1983) married Reginald Case
8. Russell Henry (1915 - 1972) married Nina Hurst
9. Hazel (1918 - 1975) married Eric George Wade
10. Roy (1920 - 1959)
